The nominations for TheStadiumBusiness Awards, in association with KPMG, have been announced today and The Aspire Group’s Managing Director of the United Kingdom and Europe Michael Meitin, has been shortlisted as a finalist in the Rising Star category.

Now in their third year, TheStadiumBusiness Awards are the only awards to recognise a whole spectrum of achievements from across the global stadium industry. Not only will the venue and event of the year be acknowledged but also individuals from behind the scenes and successful local community projects.

“Every year we’re impressed by the incredible level of innovation and professionalism we witness during the nomination process and this year was no exception,” said Ian Nuttall, founder of TheStadiumBusiness Summit. “Nominees should be very proud of their achievements and we congratulate them all in reaching the shortlist.”

The Aspire Group hired Michael Meitin in September 2009 as the dedicated sales manager for the Coventry City FC (CCFC) Fan Relationship Management Centre (FRMC) to bring to Europe the customer service, retention, engagement and relationship marketing techniques he had learned throughout his career in the United States with the National Basketball Association (NBA) and National Hockey League (NHL). After a year of continued success at CCFC, Michael was promoted to Managing Director – UK and Europe for The Aspire Group and charged with growing the business throughout European sport.

“It is an honor to be recognized by the Stadium Business Awards alongside so many outstanding individuals in the sport industry. The Aspire Group focuses on building the future sport industry leaders and this award is a true acknowledgement of those efforts,” said by Mike Meitin, The Aspire Group’s Managing Director, UK & Europe.

The winners will be announced at the Gala Awards Evening, held during TheStadiumBusiness Summit at the Museo dell’Automobile Turin, Italy on the 15th May 2012. Thousands of nominations were whittled down to create the shortlist, which will be judged by an independent panel of industry figures, including:

– Ebru Köksal, General Secretary, Turkish Football Federation

– David Manica, President, MANICA Architecture, USA

– Pat Coyle, President, Coyle Media Inc, USA

– Michael Bolingbroke, COO, Manchester United FC

– Thierry Favre, Head of National Associations Development, UEFA

– Ian Nuttall (Chair), Founder, TheStadiumBusiness, Italy

“KPMG is delighted to be supporting TheStadiumBusiness Awards 2012 and playing a role in recognising best practice within the industry,” commented Andrea Sartori, Partner of KPMG Sports Advisory. “Many factors combine to create an outstanding venue and a successful business and this is what the awards bring to light – the people and places that have managed to stand out in a highly competitive field and achieve great things.”
